Tapeswitch sensing edges are
pressure-sensitive devices which are designed to protect personnel and equipment in
a variety of environments.Tapeswitch sensing edges are custom-made to order and are available in a wide range of different profiles and sensitivities to suit the demands of your application.
Solo/Sensing Edge Range
The Solo/Sensing edges manufactured by Tapeswitch are based on the same principle as the existing range of highly
successful Tapeswitch Sensing Edges. However, the major difference between the Solo/Sensing Edges and any other
edge is that the Solo/Sensing Edge has a Category 3 fail-safe monitoring function built into the
edge thus eliminating the need for an additional control unit. By
providing two volt-free outputs this configuration is ideal for use with AS-Interface systems.
Control Unit Options
All Tapeswitch electronic sensing edges are manufactured with fail-safe wiring as standard. Factory manufactured in this manner, and used in conjunction with a suitable control unit, such as one of our PSSU Control Units, they conform to Category 3 of EN954. An additional control unit is not required for the Solo product range.
Visit our Control Units page for further details on the full range of Tapeswitch Control Units.
Tapeswitch Sensing Edges are generally used as a safety edge protector to prevent injury or damage to personnel or equipment caused by the movement of electric powered machinery. If however, you wish to use our standard sensing edges for a control system or signalling application, single-lead wiring can be supplied upon request.![]()
