IHMX 2016 Exhibition
Across the two days of the 13th and 14th of September the Tapeswitch team ventured down to the National Exhibition Centre for the IMHX exhibition. IMHX celebrates the logistics and warehousing industry, with an array of wonderful technology on show. Some of the biggest names in industry reserve their place at the event to showcase incredible technology.
The early start on Tuesday the 9th saw us arrive just after 10am. On entry it became evident very quickly that the technology on show really was in many cases ground breaking. An insightful presentation from Chris Price and Mark Kendall from Jungheinrich UK and the Pallet Network highlighted how TPN was able to reduce emissions in their warehouses using Fork Lift Truck technology supplied by Jungheinrich. The solutions maintained sufficient workflow whilst improving overall ambience.
As we meandered from stand to stand we were welcomed by friendly faces keen to showcase innovative technologies in warehouse management. At the SSI Schaeffer stand we saw first-hand how their storage systems combined efficiency with safety to create outstanding solutions.
A number of star attractions served to pull us into stands and exhibitions for interesting chats with the teams. Unipart brought a McLaren supercar, Investec had their Zebra mascot for people to take #Zelfies with and our good friends at Combilft treated us to a showing of the famous #Combidance. If you haven’t seen it check it out on YouTube.
During the afternoon we were able to spend more time with one or two companies and get a glimpse of what the future might look like. Lawrence, Janet and Sally from Briggs Equipment UK reminded us of the importance of human interactions in any industry, as we firmly agreed customer relationships continue to be a key factor in driving competitive advantage. The team at Doosan UK also took time to speak with us and showed us how they are using Oculus VR technology in the logistics sector across the world.
All in all the event was insightful, friendly and incredibly educational. As Tapeswitch looks to provide more and more support to organisations in the logistics sector opportunities like this to learn about the industry first hand are invaluable. Congratulations to the team from IMHX for putting on such a wonderful event and we can’t wait to join you in 2019.
